Espresso Martini Masterclass: Best Coffee Recipes For Your Next Party

Looking for the perfect espresso martini recipe to help you feel focused and calm while you navigate your EOFY to-do list? Leverage the caffeine in coffee with the relaxing effects of a sneaky cocktail to get you through this busy time of year.

Add an espresso martini to your end of year financial checklist

The first step to a killer espresso martini is to substitute the traditional espresso for something a little smoother – enter: cold brew coffee. You can buy ready to go cold brew all year round from our Espresso Bar, or you can whip up your own using a range of cold brewing equipment. Using cold brew instead of espresso speeds up preparation time and gives a bigger caffeine kick with a lower bitter bite.

Crema Espresso Martini

Espresso martini

Recipe

  • 60ml cold brew concentrate
  • 30ml vodka
  • 30ml coffee liqueur like Kahlua
  • Dust with chocolate, chai, cinnamon or cardamom

Method

Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Alternatively, you can blend with ice for a frozen margarita twist. Garnish with a dusting of your favourite spice or drink powder to suit.

Seat yourself in a comfortable location and consume while making sure you have all your financial bits in order. We recommend using a checklist to make sure you haven’t missed anything important, which will look different depending on whether you’re lodging a tax return as an individual or as a business entity.

Have a mojito while you check for instant asset write offs

If you’re looking to maximise your business tax return and see a little extra, a little sooner – then exploring the possibility of instant asset write offs could be the ticket. This is especially true if you have identified a need for a new vehicle or piece of equipment in the near future that could be moved to this financial year. Check out some more information on asset write offs and consult with your accountant to make sure you don’t miss anything.

It’s way more fun to read all about it with an Iced Coffee Mint Mojito in hand, though. The key to this cocktail being a winner is using freshly brewed coffee. This could be espresso, French press, aeropress, stove top and cold brew – any alternative brewing method will work here.

Now, if that doesn’t get you excited about buying new things and claiming the deductions now, we don’t know what will.

Income tax got you frazzled? Why not try gin with that?

If you’re trying to lower your taxable income this year, there are some great ways to do that while ticking some boxes in other areas. Some of the most common solutions to this include voluntary superannuation contributions, claiming tax deductions and donating to charity. If you’re not 100% sure how much income tax you should be paying, plug your details into a pay calculator  and pour yourself a Honeyed Coffee Gin & Tonic as a place to start.

Honeyed Coffee Gin & Tonic

Honeyed Coffee Gin & Tonic

Recipe

  • 90ml cold brew
  • 30ml gin
  • 15ml honey
  • Tonic water
  • Fresh lemon/lime peel

Method

With 15ml of honey in a glass, add 15ml of boiling water and stir to dissolve into a syrup. Add gin, cold brew coffee and ice to the glass. Top with tonic water – we recommend Fever Tree Tonic Water – and stir, topping with fresh lemon peel.

This is a real zinger of a drink, with a super fresh taste to keep your eyelids peeled while you wade through tax minimisation strategies.

Tax deduction calculators work better with tequila

Everything is better with tequila, right? Well, we think that depends on who you ask. If you’ve had a rough experience and you’re ready to try again, then pairing it with coffee – your one true love – is a no brainer. Like tequila, tax deductions can come with a tinge of regret, but usually it’s the regret of NOT doing them.

Mexican Black Vienna

Recipe

  • 30ml Gold Tequila
  • 30ml Kahlua
  • Freshly brewed hot coffee, black – French press, espresso, aeropress or Stovetop are all great options
  • Whipped cream or pouring cream

Method

Heat the glass or mug with boiling water first by filling and allowing to sit for 60 seconds. Empty out the water and add in your tequila and Kahlua, followed quickly by your hot coffee. Stir well and sweeten to taste if desired. Top with a healthy helping of whipped cream or pouring cream to the top.

Make sure to consult a tax calculator or current list of deduction you can claim while you sip your cocktail, and sigh with the contentment of a slightly richer person.

End of financial year sales are better with rum

It’s a frosty winter and there is truly no better way to maximise your indoor experience than by setting yourself up with a hot coffee cocktail and trawling through the best of the EOFYS offerings. As an added bonus – you might even know what you’re looking for after learning about what you can claim as a tax deduction. Coffee machine for the home office, anyone?
